Lindii Peace Foundation (LPF) is a Nigerian-based nonprofit organization committed to improving lives through targeted humanitarian and development interventions. LPF’s work spans several critical sectors, including Protection, Health, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Education, Nutrition, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). These interventions are designed to address both immediate humanitarian needs and long-term development goals.
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen program delivery and impact, LPF is currently seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join its team as a MEAL Officer.
Job Title: MEAL Officer
Location: Kaga, Dikwa, and Konduga (Borno State)
Employment Type: Contract (3 months)
About the Role
The MEAL Officer will play a central role in ensuring that LPF’s programs are effectively monitored, evaluated, and continuously improved. Working under the supervision of the MEAL and Innovation Advisor/Partnership Manager, the successful candidate will contribute to the design and implementation of a practical and cost-effective MEAL system.
This role is not just about collecting data—it is about turning information into insight. The MEAL Officer will regularly assess how well programs are being implemented and recommend improvements to ensure that project objectives are achieved efficiently.
The position also involves supporting multiple program areas, including WASH, Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection, and Education. The goal is to ensure that all data collected is accurate, reliable, and useful for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting
The MEAL Officer will be responsible for supporting the development and use of monitoring tools such as registers, templates, and databases. These tools will help track progress across different program areas.
Key tasks include:
- Ensuring timely and accurate data collection in line with the organization’s monitoring and evaluation plan
- Compiling and analyzing data on a monthly basis
- Preparing Programme Activity Tracking Sheets (PATS)
- Maintaining and regularly updating program databases
- Supporting data quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Assisting in data management for assessments, surveys, and evaluations
- Coordinating the distribution of monitoring tools and materials to field locations
2. Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Support
In this role, the MEAL Officer will actively participate in tracking the performance of LPF’s projects across target communities.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting field monitoring visits and reporting findings to program managers
- Supporting project evaluations, particularly in managing and organizing evaluation data
- Assisting in reviewing program performance and suggesting improvements
- Helping teams understand and use data to strengthen program delivery
3. Documentation, Learning, and Feedback Systems
A key part of the MEAL function is ensuring that lessons are captured and shared effectively. The MEAL Officer will contribute to building a culture of learning and accountability within the organization.
Tasks include:
- Supporting the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Facilitating feedback mechanisms that allow communities and stakeholders to share their experiences
- Managing beneficiary feedback and complaints databases
- Organizing learning sessions to reflect on program performance
- Collecting human-interest stories that highlight program impact
- Ensuring all monitoring documents are properly stored and accessible
Additional Expectations
- Maintain professionalism and respect when interacting with beneficiaries, partners, and colleagues
- Adhere strictly to LPF’s Code of Conduct, including a zero-tolerance policy on sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA)
- Be flexible and ready to take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the line manager
- Actively participate in all program-related activities
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- A Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods
- Familiarity with survey tools such as Google Forms or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of results-based management and reporting
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team and in challenging field environments
- Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of local languages will be an added advantage
Contract Duration
This is a short-term contract position lasting three (3) months, with the possibility of extension depending on project needs and performance.
