Job Responsibilities
As a Relationship Management Officer, you will play a key role in building and maintaining strong customer relationships while driving sales and business growth. Your responsibilities will include:
Sales & Business Development:
- Implement branch-level commercial sales strategies tailored to local market conditions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and seek new sales opportunities.
- Actively engage in cross-selling financial products and keeping up-to-date with industry trends.
- Support customer acquisition efforts and drive account openings.
- Provide market feedback to the sales and product teams for new and existing product development.
- Give compelling sales presentations to prospective clients and conduct regular customer engagement.
- Maintain a positive sales culture within the bank, ensuring all team members understand the bank’s offerings.
- Convert service recovery cases into new business opportunities.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of business strategies.
- Identify new revenue streams and propose innovative sales approaches to management.
Risk Management:
- Assess lending risks in line with the bank’s risk appetite to maximize profitability.
- Ensure strict adherence to the bank’s policies on KYC (Know Your Customer) and compliance.
- Conduct collateral risk analysis and ensure all loan documentation is complete and valid.
- Follow the bank’s complaint resolution process to enhance service standards and minimize risks.
- Work collaboratively with risk and compliance teams to develop risk-mitigating strategies.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and ensure adherence to financial laws and standards.
Financial & Portfolio Management:
- Analyze financial statements and cash flow projections to assess financial conditions.
- Conduct prequalification assessments of loan applications.
- Support the growth of deposit accounts, loans, and overdrafts to increase branch profitability.
- Assist branch managers in drafting funding and credit proposals.
- Negotiate contracts with potential clients.
- Monitor financial trends and market conditions to provide insights that drive business growth.
- Provide financial consultation services to corporate and retail clients to enhance their banking experience.
- Optimize portfolio management strategies to improve return on investment for the bank.
Customer Service Excellence:
- Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns promptly and professionally.
- Log and resolve customer complaints efficiently to maintain high service standards.
- Provide personalized banking solutions based on customer needs.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients and offer strategic financial guidance.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.
- Build a strong rapport with clients, ensuring long-term partnerships.
- Conduct periodic customer satisfaction surveys and implement improvements based on feedback.
People & Leadership Management:
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth service delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Education: Minimum of a First Degree in any discipline. Additional qualifications will be an added advantage.
- Experience: 5 – 10 years of relevant experience in sales and marketing.
- Professional Certification: CIBN certification is a plus.
